Digital skills certification is a recognition that demonstrates one's ability to use computers and digital technologies, based on European frameworks such as DigComp. Various digital certifications exist, such as the International Certification of Digital Literacy (CIAD) or the ICDL, valid for different fields (both general and specific for teachers, such as DigCompEdu). To obtain them, you must take an exam from an accredited and authorized body.
Types of certification
International Certification of Digital Literacy (CIAD) : This is the official recognition required for teachers, which certifies international-level digital skills compliant with European standards.
ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) : Certifies basic computer skills, useful for general use of a personal computer.
DigComp 2.2 Based on the European DigComp 2.2 framework for citizens, DigComp 2.2 is adopted as a strategic reference for developing citizens' digital skills, in line with European policies. It is used to design digital curricula in schools and technical institutes and helps define learning objectives and assess students' digital skills.
DigCompEdu : It is a specific certification for teachers, educators and trainers that attests digital skills in the teaching field, based on a dedicated European framework (DigCompEDU).
Ditals Digitale : Certifies digital skills for those who teach Italian to foreigners (L2), combining certification with digital teaching knowledge.
EIPASS : This is an international certification that complements the basic ones and can be useful for employment abroad.
How to get certified
Identify the right certification: Choose the one that best suits your needs, whether it's general, specific to the world of education, or for other professional fields.
Find an exam center: Look for a center accredited by the certification body and verified by Accredia.
Take the exam: Take the exam, even remotely, and check the procedures with your chosen exam center.
